Complying With the Funeral Rule
U.S. federal guidelines allow you to bring your own casket, vault, and other items to the funeral home, with NO additional charges or handling fees added. The F.T.C. is the U.S. agency that governs all funeral homes. This link is for the Federal Trade Commission, which oversees the Funeral Home Businesses in the U.S. See page 20, which explains that funeral homes must NOT charge to receive or handle a casket that was purchased outside of their funeral home (Page 20).
